Are you a sea kayaker looking to try expeditioning for the first time? Or new to sea kayaking in Scotland? Hillwalker who would like to experiment with a longer backpacking trip? Have your own equipment but would like a guide with experience and local knowledge to help you discover new places or longer trips? We can help. Perhaps you'd like to try an overnight paddle and camp, or a week-long expedition. On the hill, perhaps a trip into more remote country to pick off elusive munros? Or have you dreamed of accessing those same munros in style, by kayak?
With nearly twenty years of experience of backpacking and thirteen years expedition sea kayaking in the UK and further afield, I can help you discover new places and expand your horizons. I will tailor guiding and coaching arrangements to suit your needs, take you wherever you wish, advise on practical expedition skills and planning to help you develop your own independence for future adventures, and help you gain the skills you need both on and off the water. As well as helping you to develop your sea kayaking skills or hill skills, I will help you to develop the expeditioning skills you need to plan future adventures. I will coach the expedition, as well as the boot, or boat, based skills.

Being outdoors is my greatest love, and in recent years I’ve become passionate about introducing others to new experiences in the outdoors, helping people to develop the skills they need to fulfil their own dreams and ambitions.
I grew up in the North East of England with parents who climbed, hillwalked, sailed and cycled, and from that base my own adventures have shaped my adult life. I am at my happiest and most at home on the hill, on the sea, in a bothy with a roaring fire or camping on a remote beach. Personal hillwalking trips have taken me all over Scotland, England and Wales, and to New Zealand, Morocco, Majorca, Switzerland and Greece. Sea kayaking adventures have been mostly confined to the fabulous coast of the UK and Ireland so far, with my favourite trips being in Scotland, but in 2013 I ventured to East Greenland for the first time, where I returned in 2014. I have paddled on the sea on Scotland’s fabulous coastline, the Hebrides, Shetland, Northern Ireland and the Irish West Coast, Anglesey, North and South Wales, the Southwest and Northeast of England, and on rivers in the UK, Canada, Slovenia and the French Alps- but there is still a lifetime of exploring to be done, mostly in my beloved adopted home, Scotland.
